Rockery and landscape stone

Sandstone with character, for rockeries, banks, borders and steps. Every piece is different, which is the point.

A landscaper's finished garden: a curved buff sandstone retaining wall with planting spilling over, a sandstone-flag path at its foot, late afternoon light.

Stone that looks like it's always been there

Rockery stone is chosen for shape and surface rather than size. Pieces with weathered edges, bedding lines and a bit of colour variation make a planting bank or border look settled from the first season.

Weathered corner of an old sandstone face where beds part along thin dark grey shale bands, rounded weathered edges, ferns and moss in the cracks, soft light.
Where the beds part, rockery pieces come away with their weathered edges intact.
